We depend on visual icons to identify our businesses, social media accounts, subcultural groups, brand values, ideological allegiances and even our current locations. People can generate different social characteristics digitally by quite simply creating a new social media account. These accounts are like different exports of oneself; carefully created self-portraits.
The concept behind the project is derived from the process of Mitosis AKA cell division. The reproduction and generation of new cells is akin to the way an individual performs and presents themself digitally, dividing into different versions of who they are, and who they might want to be.
As different digital persona populate the online world, the digital age with its various platforms for communication and interactions, becomes a reflection of people’s identity in the present - The visual “flag” of different identities presented in the angular structure of a square allowed me to define different identities, but in a uniform space.
